This Friendsgiving, our group of 16 people (8 adults and 8 children ranging from ages 1.5 to 11) headed to Branson, Missouri for a weekend of family fun. One of the highlights was An Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City.
We had heard the magic of Silver Dollar City was real, but nothing prepared us for the breathtaking holiday displays.
Our visit was provided free of charge, but all opinions and experiences shared here are my own.
6.5 Million Lights
When the sun went down, the park transformed into a glowing Christmas wonderland. Even our kids ... who had spent the day running from ride to ride convinced 53° meant “no jacket necessary” ... froze in amazement.
The 40-foot real Grand Fir tree in the new plaza was stunning, and the synchronized lights dancing to holiday music made the perfect backdrop for family photos.
The Christmas Tasting Passport
Silver Dollar City isn’t just about rides and holiday lights, the food is part of the magic, too. This season, we tried the Christmas Tasting Passport, which is valid for 5 tasting-sized items from the limited-time holiday menu (available November 1, 2025 – January 4, 2026).
There’s something for everyone: savory dishes like Chicken Mashed Potato Bowls and Ozarks Chili, plus sweet treats like Red Velvet Funnel Cakes and Apple Dumplings with Cinnamon Ice Cream.
Our group had a blast sampling different items ... we think we might have tried 5 peppermint pretzels alone! Each tasting gives you a chance to try multiple flavors without committing to full portions, which is ideal for families with kids who want to nibble a little of everything. It was a fun and festive way to explore all the holiday flavors the park has to offer.
Something for Everyone to Experience
From twinkling pathways to decorated buildings, wreaths, garlands, glowing storefronts, and classic Christmas characters popping up throughout the park, every corner felt magical.
Some favorites for our group:
- Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Light Parade – Our kids were thrilled.
- Two full stage productions – A fun warm-up and impressive shows.
- 40+ rides and attractions – A hit with the kids.
The kids’ energy was high, the adults’ energy was questionable, and the memories were priceless.
A Must-See Holiday Tradition
Whether visiting with toddlers, older kids, or grandparents, Silver Dollar City’s An Old Time Christmas offers something for everyone. We thought the rides were the highlight of the day, but the lights turned on, and the real magic began.
